Get free admission to the Charlotte Museum of History to celebrate Charlotte's Black history and culture on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Our 2025 event is titled "Black Country" and will emphasize the Black experience in rural Mecklenburg County over time. Through performances, guest speakers, panels, and community-focused events for the whole family, we hope you can experience the richness of African American heritage and culture in the Charlotte region - and have fun while doing it! Last year's event saw more than 1,100 people, and we know this year will be even better!

The African American Heritage Festival’s Farmers Market celebrates the Black rural experience by showcasing local vendors and artisans. Visitors can enjoy a marketplace filled with fresh produce, handmade crafts, unique products, and more—all while supporting community businesses.
The African American Heritage Festival offers a unique opportunity for organizations to connect with the community by hosting a table on the museum grounds. Organizations can engage with attendees, share information, and raise awareness about their mission and services. This space is ideal for groups dedicated to education, advocacy, history, culture, and community support.
