Homeschool Day: Back to School

Homeschool Day: Back to School

Date: Friday, September 4, 2026 Time: 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Ages: 3-17 Cost: Free for 0-2 y.o. | $5 for 3-5 y.o. | $15 for 6+ y.o.

Learning has always extended beyond the walls of a classroom.

Join us for Homeschool Day: Back to School as we explore the many ways communities teach, learn, and preserve knowledge!

Through hands-on activities, historic spaces, and interactive learning stations, students will discover how schools, museums, libraries, and the natural world help us better understand both the past and present.

Throughout the day, families can:

  • Explore the historic Siloam School
  • Experience historic reading, writing, and hands-on learning activities
  • Meet local educators, historians, and community partners
  • Discover how nature, artifacts, and storytelling help us understand the past
  • Complete a Homeschool Day passport as you explore stations across the museum campus

Perfect for K-12 students and their families, this relaxed, come-and-go event encourages curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning through engaging activities and historic spaces!

We're excited to partner with the Daniel Stowe Conservancy, Heather Lynette the Time Traveling Herbalist, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, and Queens University of Charlotte's History Department to create a day of engaging educational experiences for homeschool learners of all ages.
