We look forward to seeing you at the special reception for Meck Dec 250: The Story of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence at the Charlotte Museum of History. PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT.

Light bites will be available throughout the evening. Please note: food is limited and will be available while supplies last. The bar will accept credit cards only.

Discover our newest exhibition, which examines the legend, legacy, and lasting debates surrounding the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence.

  • Panel Conversation

Enjoy a conversation with David Fleming, author and researcher, and Scott Syfert, attorney and historian. Together, they’ll reflect on what first drew them to the story of the Meck Dec and share where their research has taken them over the years.

Join us for a Member's Only event, celebrating our newest exhibit.

This exhibit will explore the origins of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, its presence as a symbol throughout history, and its value to the region 250 years later. Through an interactive diorama of Charlotte in 1775, original documents and artifacts from the Revolutionary Period, and memorabilia from past celebrations, visitors will come away with a fuller understanding of what the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence means to the Queen City.
