African American Heritage Festival

Celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of African Americans at the African American Heritage Festival. Each year, the festival explores a different theme, offering fresh perspectives and experiences. Enjoy live performances, speakers, workshops, community organizations, and vendors for a day of learning, inspiration, and community as we honor the stories and achievements that shape our shared history.

The Charlotte Gem Awards

The Charlotte Gem Awards is the Museum's premier fundraising event and celebrates Charlotte’s unique history and culture. Join us to help honor local educators, preservation projects, and the next generation of advocates and historians, all while raising critical operating funds for the Queen City’s oldest history museum.

Nominations for the 2027 Charlotte Gem Awards are open through March 1, 2027:
