Earth Day at the Museum

Earth Day at the Museum

Date: Saturday, April 22, 2023 Time: 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Ages: All ages Cost: Free with Admission
Location: Charlotte Museum of History

Join the Charlotte Museum of History for Earth Day to explore centuries of environmental change in Charlotte.

We will begin the day with a morning “history hike” through Reedy Creek Nature Preserve, including stops at old farming sites, restored creeks and prairies, and the Robinson Rock House ruins. Our Earth Day programming will also include a live portrait painting of John Lawson, an English observer of the Carolinas during the 18th century, by local artist Lucy Phung, and a special nature-themed tour of the historic 1774 Homesite in the afternoon.

If you're interested in more environmental history, register for our May 6 panel featuring experts from the Catawba Nation and the Catawba Riverkeeper! (link coming soon)
