Museum Programs Intern

Pay: $2,000 stipend

Hours: 12 hours/week, In-Person 

Description:

The Charlotte Museum of History is hiring up to 2 Museum Programs Interns for the Fall semester (August-December). The intern will gain experience implementing museum education programs for both adults and families in collaboration with museum staff and community partners. This person will play a large role in planning the Museum’s award-winning annual African American Heritage Festival.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist project manager with planning for the museum’s upcoming programs, including African American Heritage Festival and Queen Charlotte’s Ball. Items may include managing budget, contacting performers, vendors, and speakers, designing promotional materials, social media management, or other related tasks.
  • Support the Public Programs Manager and other staff on planned public programming including the Hispanic Heritage Celebration and annual Mad About Modern Home Tour.
  • Collaborate with the Development department to develop program budgets and track use of restricted funds.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current students pursuing a degree in History, Public History, Education, or other related field.
  • Strong computer skills are necessary, specifically in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • 12 hours per week (Some Saturdays required).
