Join us for the opening event of Path of Portraits at the Charlotte Museum of History on November 20 from 6-8 PM! This exhibit is part of our mission to honor the history of all members of our community and provide a space that encourages visitors to connect with people from the past. Each portrait portrays a figure (or figures) from Charlotte's history who is under-appreciated, under-studied, or otherwise overlooked. In addition to the beloved portraits, this expanded exhibit showcases unique items from the museum collection and striking photos by North Carolina photographer Don Sturkey, on loan from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Libraries.
The opening event will include appearances by the talented artists behind the portraits, our project partner Charlotte is Creative, and a lively panel discussion. Enjoy the opportunity to engage with the stories behind each portrait while socializing with a drink from our bar. Don’t miss this night of art, history, and community!
This program is a special Wednesday edition of Thursday Night at the Museum which is free to all and sponsored by Culture Blocks— a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County.
