The Charlotte Museum of History presents the Mad About Modern Home Tour to celebrate and foster appreciation of midcentury + modern architecture and design, as well as contemporary thinking in these fields, by encouraging education, preservation and sustainable modern living in the greater Charlotte area. We firmly believe our historic built environment adds value to the Charlotte region.

Rock House 250
Rock House 250 is a program series celebrating the 250th anniversary of the oldest home in Mecklenburg County: the 1774 Alexander Rock House. The series will run from September 2024 through May 2025 and reflect on more than 250 years of history at the Alexander Homesite, emphasizing the many different communities that have called this place home.
The centerpiece of this program series is the Rock House 250 exhibition opening in October 2024.
Queen Charlotte's Ball & Banquet
Join the Charlotte Museum of History, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and Queens University of Charlotte along with other experts in the field for a memorable night of history, fashion, and romance. Not only is this a unique way to engage people in history, sponsorship of this event is your opportunity to engage in vital conversations exploring belonging, opportunity, and access through the lens of fashion and historical romance.
The highlight of the evening is a conversation with bestselling author Julia Quinn, creator of the Bridgerton Universe.
Open Wide the Door
Opened in March 2024, this groundbreaking exhibition tells the story of the National Negro Opera Company and its founder Mary Cardwell Dawson.
