Weaving Culture and Communities Through Cloth

The "Threaded Traditions" exhibit will run at the Charlotte Museum of History during the month of May 2024 as part of our celebration of AAPI Heritage Month. This museum quality contemporary Filipino textile collection acquired with the help of HABI and The Philippine Textile Council, which aims to help preserve Filipino weaving traditions through public exhibition, support the legacy of traditional Filipino weavers, and educate the diaspora of Filipinos about their cultural inheritance. 

This exhibit is curated by Chiara Cox together with HABI: The Philippine Textile Council. Chiara is an Artist, Soprano, Music and Art Ambassador , and Advocate of Sustainable Filipino Legacies. She also promotes Filipino culture by performing classical Filipino songs, producing classical music videos, penning Filipino related articles, and creating Filipino Music and Art events.
