Your support empowers us to advocate for Charlotte's built environment, share our region's stories through innovative programs and exhibits, and build community through important dialogues. We are committed to providing tools that help Charlotte learn from the past to create a future with greater opportunity for all.

In honor of the pioneering work undertaken by Mary Cardwell Dawson and the newest exhibition celebrating her National Negro Opera Company, the Museum is creating a "Diamond Horseshoe" wall at the entrance to the exhibit. At the height of the company, Mary undertook a creative fundraiser, selling special reserved seats where supporters would be formally announced upon their arrival and would have the spotlight shone on the at appropriate moments during the event. As a tribute to her creativity and drive, a $1000 donation ensures your name is spotlighted as a key supporter of the exhibit.
Did you know historic objects and structures need to be kept at a constant temperature? Changes in temperature and humidity cause rapid deterioration of objects and can lead to problems such as mold, brittleness, and other devastating issues. The Museum is looking for support to help upgrade and perform needed replacements of aging parts.
